- Provide, maintain, and improve the Service.

3. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share information only in the following circumstances:
- Service providers: We use third-party services to help operate the platform (e.g., Stripe for payments, email delivery services). These providers only access information necessary to perform their services and are contractually obligated to protect it.
- Analytics: We may use analytics tools (such as Google Analytics) to understand how the Service is used. These tools collect anonymized or aggregated data.
- Advertising: Free-tier users may see ads served by third-party ad networks. These networks may use cookies to serve relevant ads. Ads are never displayed in Stage Mode.
- Legal requirements: We may disclose your information if required by law, court order, or governmental request, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of WorshipChordBook, our users, or the public.
- Business transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, user data may be transferred as part of the transaction. We will notify you of any such change.
4. Data Storage and Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your personal information, including:
- Encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS) for all connections.
- Hashed passwords. We never store your password in plain text.
- Access controls that limit who can view personal data internally.
- Regular security reviews of our infrastructure and code.
While we strive to protect your information, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.
5. Data Retention
- Account data: Retained for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will remove your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.
- Song submissions: Approved submissions become part of the public library and are retained indefinitely. You may request removal of your name from published submissions.
- User content: Setlists, notes, and preferences are deleted when you delete your account.
- Server logs: Automatically purged after 90 days.
6. Cookies and Local Storage
WorshipChordBook uses cookies and browser local storage for the following purposes:
- Essential cookies: Session management, authentication, and CSRF protection. These are necessary for the Service to function.
- Preference storage: We use browser local storage to remember your display preferences (chord display mode, transpose settings, scroll speed) so they persist between visits.
- Analytics cookies: Used to collect anonymized usage statistics to help us improve the Service.
- Advertising cookies: Third-party ad networks may set cookies on free-tier pages (never in Stage Mode) to serve relevant ads.
You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling essential cookies may prevent parts of the Service from functioning correctly.
7. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correction: Request that we correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Deletion: Request that we delete your personal data (subject to legal retention requirements).
- Portability: Request a copy of your data in a machine-readable format.
- Objection: Object to the processing of your data for certain purposes (e.g., marketing).
- Withdraw consent: Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw it at any time.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at hello@worshipchordbook.com. We will respond within 30 days.
8. Children's Privacy
WorshipChordBook is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected data from a child under 13 without parental consent, we will delete that information promptly. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us.

11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make significant changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you by email. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
